I made this spinner card for this week's Tiddly Inks Challenge! This is the first time I have ever made one and I have to thank Christy at Tiddly Inks for posting a video showing us how to make them! So here is my spinner card...
I have attached a video of how my spinners work. I hope it loads ok (I've never added video before.) Sorry about the crappy videography, but I had my camera in one hand and the card in the other and was trying to make them spin. I couldn't find my tripod...lol!
I hope my directions aren't too confusing! I had a ton of fun making this card!
I used a tag from the Winter Woodland Cricut cart, added two rounded rectangles in the center with my Gypsy, and then cut it on three different papers. The solid green paper is the tag's shadow. I drew pencil lines around where I was placing everything so that I could cut the lines for my "spinning" sides. Patterned papers are Basic Grey "Mellow" and the leaves are from Close to My Heart. |
This is just to show you were I cut the lines with my exacto knife. |
Here you can see how I cut the lines out and the pennies I am using for my "spinners." One of the last steps to this project is to slide my pennies (spinners) in between these slots I cut and that becomes my spinner. |
Here I have cut another shadow tag because I am going to glue the patterned paper to the first shadowed tag. |
Rather than wasting all of my pop up dots, I used a thick junk cardboard piece (I always save any cardboard I see from packaging) and cut narrow lines and applied glue to them on both sides with my glue runner. Also, I used these pop up dots and put one in between my each of my two pennies (I have four pennies total.) At the very end of making my card I glued the faux leaves to the tops of the pennies (aka my spinners.) |
Here you can see how I used the strips I cut. |
